I will say it time and time again. They hated on my team. Only one person on the ESPN staff picked Boston. Boston even though they had the better record were the underdogs. No-one is going to beat a Phil Jackson coached team lead by KB24. Well,well,well,should I laugh now or wait till the salt is all the way in the wounds. No I am not a bandwagon fan,look at the picture that is over 5 years old people. I been riding with Pierce. I have always liked the Celtics. My dad was a Celtics fan. The only time we didn't go for the Celtics was when Magic played. I loved Magic Johnson. I didn't like a player that much again until Paul Pierce "the truth" arrived in Boston. Of course I know about Jordan,he is the greatest and I have plenty of Chicago championship hats and shirts. I lived thru a dynasty with him,so I have respect for what he did. And I also know what Kobe isn't and that is Jordan. Jordan found ways to score against the best defenses in the game. All those years Chicago didn't have the best defense,but they did have the best player who had other people that could make shots no matter who they were.
Kobe does not. Don't get me wrong they show moments of greatness but in one word it was never "consistent". You knew how Game Six was going to go when he came out attempting to shoot out the Celtics all by his-self. The old Kobe was showing his colors again. Then he backed off. And well needless to say the Celtics took that and ran with it. This was one of the worst blowouts in NBA history. Jordan might have lost but he didn't get blown out. Kobe is a great player and he will be a Hall of Fame inductee and eventually if they get the right players around him,as my friend J puts it the "Goons" he will get that championship without Shaq.And Phil Jackson. This man could have became the coach with the most wins in NBA history for Championships. He still sits at 9,simply because he did not coach well. It seemed besides talking about the refs and blowing whistles on the sidelines that he didn't do much. Even when they showed him in the locker room he was not the same Phil to me. Needless to say this was not the usual outcome that came with Phil Jackson in the finals. I mean come on who really would have bet against Phil?Especially with Doc coaching the other team.
But let's be honest BOSTON was the better team.Doc rivers did a great job. The man has always been a good coach but has never had a team like this. He got everybody since day one to buy into him and it paid off. This was a team last year who had no-name players and barely won 25 games. Of course they were going to be better but no-one expected a Championship. My roommate called it back in September. I wish we had bet some money. Paul "the truth" Pierce,Kevin "KG" Garnet, and Ray "Jesus Shuttlesworth" Allen. I'm proud of them for finally getting a ring. One of the best moments of that night to me was when KG walked up to Bill Russell and told him he wouldn't need one of his rings because he got his own. In the interview between them,(which i think was one of the best interviews of the season) Bill told him if with this team he never got a championship he would give him one of his rings..I almost cried. True sportsmanship and love for the game . You got to Love that.
